Mr. Drew Johnson

Vice President

Drew W. Johnson joined The Taffrail Group, LLC in February, 2013, as its Director of Legal Affairs and Business Development and now serves as Vice President. In this role, he oversees and manages all of the firm’s legal matters and advises its officers and directors with respect to legal issues affecting the firm’s operations. Drew also provides legal oversight on client M&A engagements, focusing on contractual drafting and negotiating, as well as legal due diligence and closing matters. 

Before joining The Taffrail Group, Drew practiced energy regulatory and corporate law with the law firm of Balch & Bingham, LLP in Atlanta. In this capacity, he represented utility and non-utility corporate clients in their dealings with government regulators, customers, and competitors.  In particular, Drew represented and advised certain of his energy clients with respect to the purchase, planning, and development of electric generating facilities and electric transmission systems in the United States. Before entering private practice at Balch & Bingham, Mr. Johnson served as law clerk to two administrative law judges at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in Washington DC. 

Drew holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Princeton University, a J.D. from Loyola University School of Law, and an L.L.M. in Energy and Environmental Law from Tulane University School of Law. He was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 2005 and remains a member in good standing.
